BI Releases Advisory on Visa Application, Waived Penalties, and Suspended Transactions

The Bureau of Immigration (BI), in a press release on May 4, declared exemptions from suspended BI transactions and qualifications on waived penalties of those applying for visa extension.

BI transactions shall remain suspended except for the ff.:

  • Outbound passengers planning to depart the Philippines

ON EXPIRED VISA

BI allows filing of applications on visa extension of foreign nationals provided that the date of their visa expiration will fall due within the period of declared suspension of transactions. Applications shall also be waived of fines and penalties.*

Fines and penalties shall also be waived for outbound passengers applying for visa extension provided that their visa extension expired within the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) and Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) period. 

*Allowed filings and waived penalties shall only apply provided that the foreign national submits the application thirty (30) days prior to the lifting of the suspension.
